Windows 10 test client reports: An error occurred while renewing interface Ethernet 2 : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. I have ensured the original Pi running PiHole is switched off and unplugged. The original Pi worked and served IP addresses. It is running v3 of PiHole. Both old and new are identical versions of Pi 3s running Rasbian 9 Stretch. And the following in the pihole.
Hi thanks for getting back to me, the details are as follows paths updated to point to container configuration where necessary. Just a shot in the dark: have you enabled, or added restrictive rules to the firewall?
Its peculiar. All I wanted to do was to move my old PiHole v3 install from using a Pi all to itself to a Docker Container install on another Pi, upgrading to v4 of PiHole at the same time. So I copied the contents of the pihole-static-dhcp. Thanks for the info jfb I will try to look into why when the docker container was created it set the name-server to that other IP address which just happens to be my current PiHole Pi IP address.
I will try creating the image completely from scratch, see if there is more than just docker rm the container to ensure any old details are removed! I will see in the morning if this has behaved better.Reddit 3d modeling
The logs look a bit better to me in any case. I am assuming that when the docker container is created it copies some of the host OS settings, and in my case they where wrong. See resolv.
And the run time error: dnsmasq-dhcp: no address range available for DHCP request via eth0. I will continue to run it in net host mode as this works but I would prefer it to be run in bridged mode.

What most people seem to miss is your IPv6 address is very likely to change if the prefix is issued by your ISP. But it turns out that doesn't matter in the least. So long as Pihole is not configured to issue IPv6 addresses, the only thing the IPv6 address is used for is to verify you have IPv6 enabled.
Then in your router you configure the local IPv6 address. This is mine.

Thus Pi-Hole only downloaded IPv4-capable blacklists. I turned IPv6 on on my Pi-Hole computer, and rebooted. Actually, it has a couple of addresses which I don't understand yet. It still didn't block IPv6 domain names.
With a raspberry pi there can often be power problems. If your ethernet does not work, for debugging, also try. You can also check for issues or post new ones in the official issue tracker. The device your pi is connected to maybe a router?
Check your router of it is configured to give out IP addresses i. Another alternative would be to configure your pi to use a static IP address. This setup would not need any DHCP magic whatsoever.
Look here if you would like that. I had exactly the same issue and solved that as explained here with adding a lower priority metric e. So based on that finding the following configurations is working for me. Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top.

It is in Bridge Mode. DHCP is disabled in both Pi-holes.
I want to point out, that other WiFi devices connect to Pi-hole correctly. I like it as a bridge because I also use it as a dumb switch for a Windows 10 server. I do not think it is the router as my Laptop and other WiFi devices are working properly with Pi-Hole. It seems specific to Android devices only. Ok, I have found the issue on my Pixel 2 XL. Now my Pixel 2 XL is working correctly with Pi. I will open a new ticket for that.
